They are :ld:

Capitalism but the fact that "the World" has to be bunched together still speaks to the vast gulf in talent between the US and any individual nation.

True they are winning because they are bunching dudes from all over. But they have reclassified what is foreign and what isn't. A player born overseas but has played in the US for years would now be considered a world player. So a young Pat Ewing would be a world player and a young Deng would be a world player. Kobe would be a world player.

Nike also did this to make the game more competitive and to spread the game globally.

You could see that with the adult US team when they let dudes like Hortford play for DR. Years ago he would have been on team USA. But they and the league want to promote and spread the game.

Once again where the hell did this narritive come from. Dude was born in Philly. His dad played for the 76ers. Man the media and fans done ran with this silly narrative (which was pushed by the media years ago and Kobe played into it) for years.

shyt reminds me how folks think Tina Turner from Europe cause she got a fake euro accent.

my b, he was born in philly. fact remains he was highly influenced by italy. he speaks italian fluent, has attributed a lot of his technical know-how from his learnings there..and correct me if im wrong, but only moved back when his dad retired. so not only was he in camps there, but he watched his father play over there and had the braintrust of his father and other euros there backing and schooling him outside of just camps and the like. there's a reason why d'antoni got a chance with LA (and, to a lesser extent Iavaroni, whom i have a personal connection to)..hes obviously not a pure euro..but its not like he was a scrub in HS and many of his bball years leading up to lower merion were in italy. i personally dont consider him a euro by definition but tossing that part of his development in the bushes is disingenuous
