cuz nobody was listening to it
If nobody was listening to it why was the Vice President holding press conferences about it being incendiary and having "no place in our society"? If nobody was listening to it why was it used as a motive theory in a high profile state troopers murder case? If nobody was listening to it why were singles from it charting and videos being played on tv? Maybe you weren't listening to it, maybe you were listening to kid n play or Kwame and the Polka Dot Pants Posse or whatever the fukk you thought was hype back then, but just because you weren't listening to it doesn't mean a substantial amount of other ppl weren't.

That album went (true) gold (500k sold) in the same year it was released, with no commercial hits, his first single/video was about teen pregnancy

Bro just talking outta his ass..just because it didn’t do mc hammer numbers, yeah we get that

Nas is my second goat, but the way people talk about illmatic you would think he sold 5 million, same with reasonable doubt.

not a big deal.
youre equating modern radio to the radio in '91-92.
there was plenty of conscious hip-hop on the radio back then. "Brenda's got a baby" was basically the next step after nikki d's "daddy's little girl".

and "when my homies call" was an attempt at getting a radio anthem.

and I doubt he would've even sniffed gold if it wasn't for JUICE.

pac knew what he was & wasn't when it came to his place in the rap game. he was about to quit rapping until "I get around" blew up.

What impact did rd have in 96?? Jay told you so right ?

Not doubting the quality of both albums, they are classics, just wanna know about the ‘impact’

reasonable doubt was getting crazy play in the streets up here in real-time.
