First of all, just because Russ and Jokic played well together doesn't mean all the credit goes to the latter. It was so cringe watching Jokic fans make it seem like he was bringing something out of Russ that has never been there, it was legit insane some of the takes. Russ played well in Denver but he's played about at that level since he left the Lakers.

Secondly, the man was already being tasked with carrying more responsibility than anybody ever on a minimum salary in like a 6-7 man rotation with abrupt coaching changes, injuries to half of the serviceable guys including himself with TWO breaks in his hand... Keep in mind JOKIC DROPPED ABOUT 3 GAMES BY HIMSELF before we even get to Russ toughing it out and trying to contribute with an impactful injury.

His play in those last couple of games AFTER he was a huge catalyst for even getting them past the first round was due to his injuries. And when you point it up people go, well he shouldn't have played if he was hurt then!

:skip:

Once the narrative is set, ain't shyt you can do to change people's perception of you. I rue the day he played Le-Roid James.
What are you doing? :heh:

Guy’s been on like 7 teams since 2019 and made it out the first round for the first time in a decade this season, but yes it’s Lebron’s fault Russ hasn’t contributed to winning since he was hitting the folks with Cam Payne.

Denver with an already short and oft injured rotation doesn't make it out of the first round nor push OKC to 7 games without Russ, I'd say that counts as contributing to winning. Eliminated the Clippers and pushed the eventual champs to a game 7 with a broken hand, a nikka with one arm, another nikka with on one leg...he "contributed to winning" more than Lerbon did, factually speaking.

And yes, the narrative around Russ is Lebron and the Klu Klutch Klan's doing. He and day to day Davis were barely available during his tenure in LA and we all know Lebron is going to grab a scapegoat to hide behind, LBGT tried to do the same thing to Luka last year.

Russ was awful in the OKC series. The Nuggets pushed that series because they have the best player in the world, not because their back up PG produced 9 PPG on 34 FG% with more turnovers than he had assists :heh:

Russ was a pass around before he got to the Lakers and he's been a pass around since. Clippers discarded him for Kris Dunn after he was abysmal in the 2024 playoffs and the Nuggets had no interest in retaining him after he flamed out in the playoffs yet again. The Westbrook experience is too volatile for teams to want to endure for longer than a season or two. That's why he's about to bounce to his 7th or 8th team in as many years. But I'm sure that's Bron's fault too.
