Cacs have a hard time reconciling the greatness and shortcomings in their heroes. They're aren't used to it. I've come to terms with the fact that many of my favorite Presidents were racist when, I was a child. One of my banks and my insurance company made their fortunes from slavery. I'm a 30 yr old pays dues to a country that wouldn't let my 30 yr old great grandmother eat in the same space as cacs.

Yes, but this documentary centers the goodness of a white person and therefore provides white redemption. They can deal with stories that separate between good and bad white people. That's also what Chris Wallace was trying here. Yes, there were bad white people who violently suppressed black people. But then there were these pure innocent 20-30 year olds from Indiana who went to the army and liberated Europe from the Nazis. Surely they can't be blamed for the "racial legacy". The problem they have with the 1619 project is, that it doesn't provide white redemption and tells them that all of them were complicit.
