8/10 will be a 8.5/10 once the dlc drops. It’s very much Platinum’s take on a NG game. They did a great job but hopefully Team Ninja returns to direct the next game. They have a level of rawness and visual flair. That differentiates them from Capcom and Platinum. But they might’ve moved on to Nioh smh.

Pros
  • Gameplay is gas both characters plays great
  • The OST is fire
  • Game runs like butter
  • Boss battles are dope
  • The difficulty is still there
Cons
  • They went the DMC4 route with the Ryu sections.
  • I don’t like the way you acquire Ryu’s skills.
  • Ryu weapons are locked behind DLC
  • The environments lookwise gets repetitive and the level design is mid.

They could have taken him out of the story and it would have played out the exact same.

The Prologue is another discussion altogether as it makes no sense from a storyline perspective.

So I have to be atleast halfway through. Chapter 11 or 12 or 13. No idea lol. Got the Kage-Hiruko (which is REALLY dope. Nice to see Tonfa and Claws mixed in that bag), but haven't flipped to Ryu yet. As I said earlier, combat is insane, but gotta say, it's too easy. I've only struggled in one spot, and on one boss (pretty sure both were Chapter 6, or the boss was around there). Other than that, it's been pretty meh difficulty wise. Master Ninja will be a must-play for me. I don't remember the previous games being this easy, and I obviously don't like the change. Hopefully MN REALLY ramps it up.

Also, seeing the talk about this vs. Yotei and man, they're two completely different games. If you want pretty environments and a cinematic experience, get Yotei. If you want great gameplay get this. The combat in this game is so freaking good. So fast. Tsushima/Yotei simply can't compare. I'm a gameplay guy, so there's no competition whatsoever.

Feels like Ryu basically the dude from Solo Leveling once you change to him.

The ending kinda feels abrupt but the gameplay is nuts. If you can actually get Ryu’s other weapons it’s def worthy of a replay.
