From everything released so far doesn’t seem Ryu has a large part in the game.

The character you play as most of the game has plenty of weapons.

There’s some challenge mode once you complete the game that lets you go back and play through levels/bosses? as Ryu. The DLC weapons will be for that.

Truth be told I didn't even know Ryu wasn't going to be the main character, haven't paid much attention outside of the 1st gameplay trailer

Yeah seems he’s more a “support” character this time around.

In DMC4 nero only had one weapon if i remember correctly.

Nero had one signature weapon in DMC4 just like Viola in Bayo 3. Usually the OG character gets their entire kit. While the new character gets one weapon until the sequel. If you’re not feeling Ryu having one weapon. Then you might as well wait for an complete edition to drop.

Fitgirl it is . I love this franchise but I can't bring myself to pay $90 for weapons and costumes that I didn't have to pay for before. I've been wrestling with this for awhile. I'm also not a fan of PlatinumGames.

Do what you want, but the game has plenty of costumes and weapons for the main character.

RYU is the side character this time around. The DLC is extra stuff for him.
