Nintendo’s finally starting to crack into the Wii U’s custom hardware
As reiterated in a feature article put together by Eurogamer‘s Tom Phillips, Nintendo EAD Group No. 1 has managed to get stunningly beautiful Mario Kart 8 to perform at full hd (1080p) at 60 frames-per-second. No official word from Nintendo on whether the resolution is native or up-scaled but I’m sure the folks at Digital Foundry will help dissect that information. Regardless of such, the game looks fantastic as it is.
“The game’s visuals are beautiful, 1080p and 60fps even in two-player split-screen, while new characters and weapons such as the Piranha Plant keep things feeling fresh amongst otherwise familiar surroundings.”
Mario Kart 8 producer Hideki Konno previously revealed that the development division had been working on the technological and graphical side behind Mario Kart 8 since back in 2008 when Mario Kart Wii was released. Thanks to the new technology provided by the Wii U the team was able to to keep a high graphical quality “regardless of how many ways we were splitting the TV into”.
Since it was fully revealed last week, Mario Kart 8 has garnered mass popularity, trending on social media sites such as Facebook.

This isn't the company that invented the platform genre with Mario.
Gimmicky remotes worked and it was cool but this is a new age of technology now, Nintendo needs to find its lane and seriously go back to the drawing board because whatever they're doing is just a one way ticket to Sega territory.
