From a business standpoint, they're doing what they're supposed to do.

Focus on making sure your money-making original IP (Mario, Zelda, etc.) will always appeals to your core fanbase.
Constantly rake in profit simply based on having said mentioned original IP surpassing being video game characters to being cultural icons
Own the IP to a global phenomenon (Pokemon) and give customers the bare minimum because you know they're coming for their nostalgia hit no matter how repetitive and formulaic the actual game design is

The consoles just tie everything together. The Wii U was a complete failure, but they simply release the Switch and everyone forgets Wii U even exists

As a business model, I gotta give it to Nintendo. If Square could manage to have even 25% of Nintendo's competency as a business...

I take it that they didn't show this at all since I've not heard a peep about it.
No, not even a hint that it’s coming. But Nintendo hasn’t unveiled hardware E3 in a very long time. I’m confident the Bloomberg leak was correct and that it’s coming…I’m just betting Nintendo unveils it via a Direct unassociated with any tradeshow.
