Right, they did a presentation on motion controls in 2017

The reason that switch reveal video was so hyped cause it was focused on games and it looked like Nintendo would not be splitting resources between 2 consoles

Yup and I think that's what made the presentation such a train wreck. EVERYONE knew about the motion controls and the joy cons. What we were waiting for was game announcements and they gave us 2 trash gimmick games and finally announced the release date for Zelda which is also coming to Wii U so there is no reason what so ever to own a switch AT LEAST until the holiday season of 2017 when Mario drops and even then, that's only one game.

it kind of suffers from "jack of all trades, master of none"

it can be a portable or a home console, but it's kinda big for a portable, and weak for a home console

various controller options, but they're all kinda awkward, and not as good as standalone solutions
