It's all part of the bigger problem of executives running industries based on raising the share price of the stock instead of making products and services people want and can afford.

Nintendo used to be run by people who actually made, played and valued games. Now it's run by people who only care about making as much money as possible because they have a quarterly mindset and think only in 3 month intervals.

Nintendo has to face the same market conditions the other platforms and pc part manufacturers face. They’re all made in the same place with mostly the same parts.

Nintendo got away with being ’family friendly’ for so long because their hardware has been dated as fukk and people were still ok with spending 300 dollars on it. The first sign should have been ToTK being priced at $70.

the second hint should have been directly when Furukawa straight up said game development would be getting increasingly longer and more expensive now that they have somewhat updated hardware.
