I was a bouncer during the rise of the Tapout/Affliction shirt wearing, "I train UFC brahs" of the mid 2000's.
Knowing Jiu Jitsu and thus being able to subdue or unfortunately choke out the ones you couldn't reason prevented a LOT of lawsuits that would've risen from putting paws on those dumb dumbs
As a black man keeping the hands sharp but understanding at the very least the BASICS of grappling is just a good idea.
Exactly. nikkas who box, know karate etc are no fukking joke and need to be treated like live dynamite at all times but you also need to know basic submissions, choke holds and being able to prevent a takedown can be a lifesaver. Not everyone needs to have a broken face if only due to a lawsuit. A nice dislocated shoulder or elbow or quick choke will do that. All good TKD, Karate or striking martial arts school gives a good basis in this.
There's a huge danger of going to the ground IRL ( but any fight has its dangers) that's why I do my striking base but I've wrestled, did judo and jiu jitsu just to keep myself honest and that shyt is no joke. The OP dissing this is nuts.
