anybody have a link to that complex/hip-hop infinity thread? nothing comes up for it in the search function. I think @Art Barr made the thread.

as for this thread, nippsey should be where theyre trying to place Kendrick.

Ive been saying for years that nipsey is the closest thing to a new banner artist for the west coast.

One of da main reasons hip hop suck today is because rappere are droppin 3-4 projects a year and 8 times outta 10, its free. Nipsey doing the opposite and making dough. Good for him

Free music is cool but hip hop was better and more polished when rappers were dropping 1 album every year or sO

it isn't the number of projects.
it is the fact the rappers don't have the skill to drop that large volume of projects.
emcees who have that skill,...
are fine dropping that large number of work a year.

the problem is,....rap is filled with rappers who are not capable of rapping well enough.
for the actual positions, they hold and volume of records, they produce or perform, in general.

:whew: seems like a very motivated intelligent brother. Would have done wonders if he was birthed into an even playing field.

I was reading that whole shyt like :stopitslime: He a smart nikka but he just sound mad
....
Then I read this

We can criticize a street nikka, but we can’t be aware of the mindfukk that’s going on with these corporations and these motherfukkin’ giants. It’s a problem that Nip still values his product at $100—I get backlash from our culture. From the nikkas that look like me. Most of these nikkas rap for their damn selves. But when nikkas go into the mall and buy $600 iPhones—and everybody’s got an iPhone—and stand in line for $1,000 shoes, and pay $5 a gallon for gas. That’s why I’m mad. That’s my objective and nikkas gotta wake up. It’s a misinformed critique.

And ended up like :ehh:

Still though, 100$ is steep as fukk bruh.

Drop it to twenty and I'm buying it.

when I first moved out to LA in '08, i was helping produce a reality show pilot about rappers, singers, models, etc living in one spot in LA to "make it." at one of the tapings, the main producer was trying to get everyone to do a dance routine....nipsey was there and was like..."i'm a gangsta...i don't do that shyt" :birdman: and bounced.

Respected his music, though I've never heard any of it, but this was a dope interview....Contradictory and self righteous at times, but that doesn't really take away from what he was saying, it's a bad look to be so offended by whatever Complex said, imo, and artists have to separate the business shyt from the street....because trust most people aren't going to have your background either, in almost all walks of life, you have to take the street knowledge and use it in a different setting.....
