i haven't really listened to his music since it happened.
played a few songs here and there but i haven't really felt the need yet to go to a full project yet for some reason.

have ended up watching more his press run, the stuff i missed out on when he dropped the album.

I remember the first time I ever heard of nip. Some cambodian dude worked with me and he was from LA too. He kept telling me about this dude "nipsey hussle"... He kept going on & on about him even at lunch. He gave me his background and everything. From there I always checked his music. He had the business acumen of a master p and he was universally respected. I keep going back to his grammy interview where he kept reiterating Victory Lap was his debut, but thru his mixtapes and street albums we saw him grow.

Its mutually inclusive but his death reminds me a lot of Sean Taylor. Getting taken out even before you reached the prime but everyone saw the potential all time greatness with both of them. I feel so sorry for his children.. Cant really get the images of him getting gunned down out of my head...So tragic...

That's wild cause I got put onto nipsey by a coworker too. At a warehouse job like 3 years ago, By some dude from south LA who really grew up in a crip family. We would have convo's about life and all type of shyt. He was making moves starting up his own clothing brand. I told him about dead prez and music on self empowerment. We talked about kendrick. That's when he told me nipsey is the real king of the west coast. I was like .....I had only heard nipsey through guest appearances here and there. I figured he was just another "gangster" rapper. But after really listening to him I was like woah. He was on some different shyt. So I fukked with his music ever since.

I left that job soon after, but me and dude followed eachother on IG. Over the past couple years he was always posting pics of his family or homies who passed away. And they always had a nipsey lyric in the caption. I knew this shyt had to be hitting him hard. He made a post dedicated to Nipsey A few days ago. Saying he still can't listen to his music yet. I wasn't sure if he would remember me, but I reached out and told him he got the same shyt nipsey had in him. And to take off where nipsey left off and never look back. He said he remembered all of our convos and the words meant a lot to him. I loved nipseys music, but I didn't have the connection with him emotionally that some of these dudes from LA do. Some of these younger cats really lived by nipsey's words and looked up to him as a father figure.

And now I fully understand why. And if I never connected with this dude I never woulda found out about nipsey's music. That's why it's important to spread knowledge to those around you. That's all it takes. It really makes a difference.

In mentioning dead prez, sticman made a post on IG few weeks back. A snapchat from nipsey thanking him for the "eat plants lift iron" book he sent him. It was dope to see and fitting that nipsey would connect with DP, seeing how they shared the same values.





After nipsey passed, stic made this post about their brotherhood. And how nipsey wanted to collaborate and really make a difference through various projects. Including a real marathon to promote health and wellness in the hood. shyt is powerful to read
