More people need to realize that owning your music is the best way to go. Whats the point of being the most popular artists and making all these millions that will all be going to your label? Being just a known artists but owning your music will make you way more money. Where do you think these huge artists are making the bulk of their money? Endorsements, touring etc. Its not from the music.

Label invests in your image/ recording costs/mixing & mastering costs/legal/PR
as well as TV/radio placements ...let's not forget all the people that have to work
to get your sh!t off the ground

Most creatives aren't business minded/organized like that and need the structure of

One thing i have noticed in mentoring my younger artists is that depending on who is in their ear dictates ALOT, if someone is in your ear and decides "young thug, i know youre in a 360, but here is an office that im using your royalties for to give you a label in which ill still eat off of anyway and you will be funding it with your own money", alot of these guys are short sighted as hell, its the same reason they get stupid ass tattoos on their face, unless youre gucci mane and youre set in the rap game no matter what having a bunch of shyt on your face with felonies and a drug addiction is a deal breaker, this system is not set up for brothas to win. that comment "theyll find another one next year" is becoming more and more common. with biting now acceptable its a wrap in alot of ways.
