5 straight losses and this team really doesn't look much better than the one they had last year.
They're one of the worst defensive teams in the league
At what point does Phil Jackson stop getting a pass and actually gets fired.
:jbhmm:

Hornacek. Really?
This is the guy he brings aboard to turn things around? The guy who says this tonight:

Jeff Hornacek: "I don't think our guys aren't trying (on defense), maybe we're just not capable of it. I don't know."

It's an indictment of the coaching and the guy who signed the players.

:hubie:
It's not always on the coach. Sure, you can pin a lot of this on Phil (even Phil knows this, which is why he'd probably rather get fired than be forced to coach this team), but the team as constituted isn't the team you'll see long term. We're watching a bunch of stopgaps and seat warmers with Porzingis being the only indispensable constant.

Dolan won't bring himself to pull the plug simply because any other coach will take a more calculated pragmatic approach and that won't sit well with Dolan. I don't think anyone else is giving Phil a pass. If anything people think he's a clown whose only saving grace is Porzingis.

Hornacek was known to not be a defensive-minded coach.

And lo-and-behold...this team is awful defensively.

Scoring isn't the problem at MSG.

Not for nothing, the guy some Knicks fans wanted instead is worse.

A lot of fans had an issue with the offense. Now they get to have a little more freedom, but they never worked on defense. That's not to say the coach doesn't value it, but the players have to buy in. Too many people are there looking to get theirs or rely on guys that can't give them what they used to on that end.

Pragmatic approach?:stopitslime:

What is Hornecek doing that makes you think he isn't being pragmatic with his approach to coaching. They were ranked number 1 for improvements made after half time until KP got injured and number 1 for plays out of time outs. They need to fire that fukkboi Rambis who is supposed to be the damn defensive coordinator.

:gucci:

Did you mean Phil?
:usure:
Phil isn't being fired because he is willing to take the abuse from the media. Dolan is such a known jackass it took somebody as a GM of Phil's character to get the media off of Dolan's ass. shyt before he was hired the fans wrote damn near death threats to Dolan and were doing protests in front of MSG

Phil is far from a clown but he has fukked up on a few things (Fisher, Noah, the Tyson trade). He's also had a few home runs (KP, Willy, Rose on an expiring, Hornecek). However, you really know why Dolan better not fire Phil? The Knicks have all those future 1st round picks!!!

:blessed:

That alone has made him the best Knicks GM since motherfukking Grunwald in the 90's and fans need to stfu and recognize that shyt

I meant Phil breh, not Hornacek.

the media will NEVER get off Dolan's ass for this team. The only thing Knicks fans pray for is that Dolan leaves basketball operations alone the way he does with the Rangers (but that will never happen)

If Phil's a good GM just because he hasn't traded future picks yet, that's a low ass bar of success.

The future is bright with an aging Carmelo who won't play defense.
A risky investment in Derrick Rose.
And a good 6th man-as-his-ceiling Wily Hernangomez.

Where's the FA signing that's going to lead/bridge the gap from 25 win team to deep playoff contender?
Steph and Sabo aint coming.
