I just want my people to succeed, to rise up, be happy, and be proud of what we are and what we can be

Real shyt, I never hate on someone when they get a new job, a promotion, or bring a new life into the world. At worst, I hope that they are able to succeed in their endeavors, and become better people.
And I'm a cynical b*stard, I will always look for the worst in a situation before focusing on the best, but I legit want to see fellow black people happy, successful, and thriving. And I mean legit thriving, not being caught up in the fancy shyt that's presented in adverts, but just happy to be here and making a good life for themselves and their future generations.
We've been held down for too long. We've had every roadblock thrown in our path, and yet we keep trying to reach for that brass ring as a people, and it makes me proud to contribute what I can to the cause. I want us to love ourselves, and love each other. Because that's how we will become successful as a diaspora, when we can trust each other to have the best interests for each other in mind. Get your degrees. Get this paper. Invest it wisely. Do better than the previous generation did, so the generation coming up after us has a higher mark to leap for, and they aim to be better than us.
I don't care if this quote is attributed to the Greeks, its the truth, and what I want.
“A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
