Not to my mom, aunts, and grandmothers. Hell, I'm lacking behind my Pops and uncles (Louisiana). I can do seafood dishes fairly well and your basic pit grilling and frying dishes. I can follow a recipe and I know how how to portion out seasonings for a dish based on previous experience.

But if someone needed a meal ASAP and I had to use what's available in the house, it's not going to be four star dining.

We ate a lot at my grandmother’s house, because she picked us up from school for a few years, and we stayed there until my mom got off work. Her cooking wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t much variety. But when my mom would cook, it was the most salty, overcooked food I’ve ever eaten.

Those older folks don’t need recipes at this point - even with baking - and it comes out perfect.

She can grill..cook steaks easily..mix up pies and cakes like its fukking nothing. She knows exactly how to season cabbage, fish, greens, lobster tails...the cheesiness on the spagetti and meatballs..i think if her yams were in a taste contest, she would be world famous. There is nothing on earth that taste like that and i go around buying from everybody. Truly insane.

I'm good all around except with baking because I never do it. Some things I do are phenomenal so id definitely say I'm better than my parents. I'm also more diverse and experimental.

I also cook better than every woman I've ever been with except one and even she only had me beat on a few recipes. My cooking is bomb NGL.

Maybe I'll make a small resolution to shyt on nikkas baking skills in 2025.
