On an average day how much do you filter? I mean self censor? Where you either tweaked or twisted what you said as opposed to just saying what was in your head with your chest and (potentially) becoming a Chappelle Show sketch.

Split it into professional and personal as well because the relationship aspect is vital as many men, many many many men try hard not to offend and thus become inauthentic in the process during the silent war of attrition lots of women wage with this type of breh. Do you know why this is? The answer can be quite surprising.

For comparison sake lets take a 2 year old as the baseline of no filter as we all know how they come strapped with the Ether they just can't wait to deliver. Why do we as a collective see it as malicious to call it as it is?

Most “blunt, tell it like it is, no filter” types can’t take pushback let alone criticism themselves. They want their cake and eat it to. Thankfully most people caught onto negligent and rude individuals

I believe there are at least 2 different levels of filtering, one where we select which thoughts we share, and another where we decide how we express the thoughts we share.

I'm more selective than most when it comes to sharing, and when I do, I tend to think about the how more than most. That goes both professionally and personally. I'll admit that I may be too consumed by how my words are interpreted. Even when I think I've been clear, someone will often misinterpret me.

Among the the people closest to me, I'm more relaxed because I feel they know my true character.

As for what thoughts I choose to share, a few things I strive to do, is to seldomly speak negatively about people, don't present opinions as facts, and don't talk about problems if I don't have any possible solutions.

I saw a saying once something like : "Does this need to be said?
Does this need to be said by me? Does this need to be said by me now?" I'd only add "Does this need to be said this way?".
