what other group has been as consistent as these guys for as long as they've been at it? De La for sure. Can't think of many others. just SOLID for their whole discography and 100% hip hop. they will be missed.

i was lucky to see them for the first time in brooklyn last year with masta ace and tanya morgan. didn't realize just how lucky.

I don't even know if I'm with you on De La , and I'm a De La stan. I have Stakes is High tattooed on my right forearm in the same font fro the album cover


De La has definitely had higher highs but they've also had some duds imo
in no way, shape, or form am I saying PUTs have had the same impact but on their own merits they're pretty fukking awesome and to me personally they're one of the best groups ever. they're one of those groups you kinda have to be a hip hop head or in the know to know about in the first place and them not being on a major record label didn't help, but it's also probably a blessing. they were able to make music uncompromisingly their way. they're not the legends at the same level of De La Soul but they're definitely legends in the indie community



You know how you can throw on pretty much any record from the 70s and let it ride without wanting to skip around? That's the way People Under the Stairs are, you put on any one of their records and you're good. They're the ultimate BBQ rap albums, super bumpable.

i hear what you're saying. With De La i think their "lows" still have some quality (their last album is the lowest for me, and there's still some tracks on there), and their highs are crazy high, so it all evens out as consistently dope to me. their floor is still dope basically.


youre not lying about being able to throw PUTS on any time. the sign of real classics.

around the time i saw them live i went back to their early stuff. it's stood the test of time so well...

They aren't great rappers, but I feel everything they talk about, as a fellow music fan.
I use to think OST was their best work, but now I'd say Question In The Form Of An Answer.

Also, Double K's little brother is in a group called Villain Park. They're nothing like PUTS, but you can hear the respect they have for the foundation.
