The San Antonio Spurs' trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobilicombined for their 541st victory Sunday in downing the Boston Celtics 95-87, moving the group past Boston's Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish (540 wins) for the most wins by a threesome in NBA history.

The trio contributed 26 points in the team’s win over the Celtics.

“It’s awesome,” Parker said Friday when the club tied the Celtic's trio with their 540th win coming by virtue of a 102-75 decision over the Brooklyn Nets. “God bless to play all those years with Manu and Timmy and coach [Gregg Popovich] is just a great accomplishment.”

Duncan, Parker and Ginobili have appeared in the more games than any other trio in NBA history, and have the most wins together, followed by Bird, McHale, and Parish and the Los Angeles trio of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Michael Cooper (490 wins), according to Elias Sports Bureau.

In addition, Duncan and Popovich have posted the most wins (953) as a player-coach duo in NBA history, followed by Karl Malone and Jerry Sloan, and Sloan and John Stockton.

“Of course it’s not something that happens often,” Ginobili said Friday night of the trio’s latest milestone. “So for sure it’s something big. The thing is we saw it coming. Last year, we were one shy [of tying the record], and we all stayed. So we knew it was going to happen eventually, unless we had a terrible season: 0-82. Of course it feels great. It tells a lot about how successful we’ve been, and these 14 seasons we’ve played together. Even with the wins and all that, playing together for so long is very unique. So we appreciate the fact we’ve been together for so long.”

Ginobili contributed 13 points in the win, which opened the first of three games in four days for the Spurs. San Antonio starts the season on the road for six of its first eight outings.

Durant, Westbrook and Harden would've smashed that record. :mjcry:
