I don't really know much about this game. Seems kinda cool to explore and perhaps never see the same thing and wonder what is that in the distance. But it still seems kinda aimless in theory. @rapbeats you have shared a lot about your experience but all you said is everywhere I go I see something to collect, mine, or sell for money. Is this just a big scavenger hunt with no end, cause that seems aimless or with no purpose. No troll or insult just curious...I get the vibe similar to those never ending quest in games where you can technically play forever but it's just changing the name of the item, person, location with a randomized physical template to feel as if you are doing something new. I know it's not as simplistic as that and more developed but same overall principle. It seems like it won't ever really achieve much or feel fulfilling. I fear it's dullness. But again I haven't done much research on this game minus this thread and like a video form a year ago. So let me know.

again i keep seeing this same word thrown around. yall have to get a new word. do you know what the word aimless means? and no purpose?

i just told you what the purposes of the mining and ect are for. is there something about it that you dont get?

you mine for resources. to build things and to sell them for units to buy things. to build things for your suit, ship, gun. to buy things for your suit, ship, gun.

the better stuff you buy/create for those 3 things. the better your suit is, the better your gun is, the better your ship is. the more units you get. you can just out right by other ships you see at outposts or spacestations. you dont have to try to find broken down ships and get lucky. thats a choice you can make if you've made a lot of doe mining and selling stuff.

and you can make more money depending on where/who you sale the stuff too.

why upgrade your suit? to withstand more shots from sentinals, to withstand hits from creatures that come at you(some do), to withstand the weather/conditions of each planet/ to swim longer underwater without running out of oxygen, etc, etc, etc. as well as to add more slots to your suit. the more slots you have the more you can carry with you without having to make a decision on what you have to get rid of to have a slot available for something else. same thing for the gun slots and ship slots. you can't upgrade your ship slots or gun slots. you can find or buy upgraded guns/ships. you can buy upgraded suits with extra slots.

the more you upgrade things, the faster you can get from point a to point b if you're going to the center or going to some other part of the universe. you beef your ship up enough you can go from point A to point F in one shot. another thing if you have the wrong kind of ship with the soft weapons on it. you wont survive a space battle with a bunch of ships. i know this because i just took my first L trying to help out these giant freighter ships that were being attacked. i did tag a few pirate ships and i destroyed one. but i also got lit up and died. my ship aint no where near ready for combat.

Yeah you haven't informed me of anything. I did more research and this game is pretty bad and things serve no big overall purpose. It reminds me of mobile games that lack a certain substance and focus. You seem to be stanning this game hard so no point in talking to you. You just collect stuff to upgrade and move on to next planet to collect more stuff. That's the game.

I been taking screenshots of the alien monuments I find. it kinda reminds me of Metroid, how you're finding all these mysterious alien structures

just because you see a trend of people who act or who really dont like the game doesnt mean everyone is running behind that trend. i know thats the era we live in. do what everyone else does or else you will be the blacksheep. but i could care less. i knew what the game was going to be. like what it is in its current state. and i've been lucky enough to have the PC version where i havent had to deal with the game quitting out on me or messing up my saves. now with that said. would i love for the game to be more than it is? YEP of course i would. will i be happy when all the dlc comes out(assuming it hits)? of course i will. but make not mistake about it. i'm a fanboy of the game because i'm an actual fan of the game. i like it.

some things some people actually like that others dont. that is possible. and i didnt just say i liked it and started arguing with yall. i explained in detail why i liked it. thats not your usual stannery troll post nonsense. again, you dont ever have to like the game. but i do.

and for the record. this entire idea of this game not having a purpose being some big thing as if these other games have such a great purpose other than shoot him, shoot them, shoot that, shoot him, shoot them. shoot that. for most FPS games. you want to explain to me how a beloved game like halo gets so much love and all it ever has been is a future tech FPS. nothing more...nothing less. and yes its ok to like it. but lets be clear. whatever story they have behind the game isnt even fleshed out in the game when you play online vs other people. which is the main way the game is played. but yet we still play it all the time. why? because we dont need a super story line purpose to like a game. you like shooting stuff. or other players. you might like halo then. no need for any other purpose but to get a kill streak. for no other reason but to say you did it. lol.

i play a lot of nba 2k16 pro gam games. sure the games are ranked. but i knoew good and well i will never be top 10. since those guys are the super cheesers/exploit abusers when you get that high. yet i still play the game for what it is.there's nothing deep about running fast, shooting to score or dunking to score. real simple game. and yet a lot of us like it.

so why does this game have to have this super deep story line and all this extra purpose?

1. You are making the mistake that anything I'm saying or anybody else is hoping on a trend of hating the game. You label it as being sheep which just simply not the case. 2. I don't believe the game is what you expect it to be as interviews and such show the game is actually nothing like it was proped up to be with all the lies, and ambiguity surrounding the game. 3. If you like the game then you like it, I'm not knocking that. I'm just saying there is not much to the game and it really has no overall arching purpose except for collect and collect and random generated worlds (even that part is debatable).

i'll say this for the last time. i've seen every single interview. and i followed multiple youtube fanboys about this game for 2 years. and yet i'm not disappointed. the reason again is because i knew they had such a small team. i know there has never been a single game that has included everything that the devs said it would and we're talking about AAA games. this is a game that was marketed like a AAA game by sony but still an indie game developed by less than 25 people. and actually i think the count was around 14 people until the last few months. just cause sony jumped on the hype train. i never lost sight of the reality. its a super duper small team trying to create something that has never been created before. when i bought elite dangerous. which was a reboot, remake of an original game. which is easier to flessh out since you have a base to build upon. even though what they did was a lot different than in the original version.

i still knew that game was going to be fun to me as it was even in the beta stage yet need a lot of work. and thats exactly whats going on with that game.

i never listen to devs speak and think everything they say will happen. i listen and HOPE it will like the rest of us. but i'm usually realistic. the day and nigh cycle issue with the planet rotation. i was loving that. but that was an issue for play testers. those guys made hello games decide to take it out of the game. would i like for it to be back in? YEP> but what about those testers? how many real people would've felt the same way? probably a lot. so who's to say i'm right just because i wanted that more realistic feel in that scenario?

and then i have to ask myself. aside from the look of a planet spinning and you coming out of one side or the other. what does it really do for game play? nothing really. its just something cute to look at.

i'm a realist. is the game fun? yep.

even if everything they said would be in the game day 1 was in the game on day 1. you do realize a lot of the same people would not like the game. because the overall theme of the game was always isolation and survival. i knew this from day 1. but most didnt. i know most didnt due to the youtube comments i've seen, posts in threads, posts i see right on thecoli and comments/articles i see on the internet today. they still dont get it.
how are you going to downgrade or negatively talk about a game being a grind to survive when thats its biggest theme. survive to explore. survive to explore. if you take the survive off. and just left explore explore. then like some of you thought previously, nms would just be a walking/exploration sim. which would've still been cool to me. but i like this better.
