If it was just rumors, gossip, and hearsay that civil case would never have ended in a settlement. There also wouldn't be over 15 women with stories that follow one particular pattern. That doesn't mean it's all true, but it does mean dismissals of the whole matter are unwarranted.

Corporations/Rich People settle all the time because law suits are expensive and time consuming...even when they are innocent.

I find this entire Cosby rape story to be interesting because what you expect to happen...isn't happening. The women coming out are being looked at like straight whores. It's just wild watching this because you would expect Cosby to go into hiding or do a media blitz. But he is just going about his business like nothing is happening. Because everyone knows what this about. It not about rape it's a black man having sex with all these white women and not paying the price. These women are expecting some sort of justice or compensation for telling their stories about Bill having sex with them but they aren't getting anything from it. There is nothing anyone can do legally and they are telling that they all had sex with Bill Cosby. It's just crazy..we are literally watching someone who is untouchable get accusations of rape thrown his way and he is just ignoring it.

that's an unfair assertion, considering Cosby's prominence as a clean comedian and a father figure in the seminal role of Dr. Cosby, at the time of these cases, I can see how settling would be more beneficial than having your name dragged through the mud and risking it never recovering; his illustrious and long lasting career, in essence, testifies to him having made the right choice. In general, sometimes it is fiscally responsible to settle such cases.
