"Neo Soul" had died though. Once The Roots did the MTV Unplugged show with Jay Z, Neo Soul was on it's way out the door
Alicia was never as great as she was marketed and billed. She's good, but not great. Things did change up with she switched her look and I'll never forget when she did, it was this video; she was trying real hard to be on some Beyonce' shyt and still play piano

Should have never stood up from behind the piano. That shyt made her different from her contemporaries. It at least gave her the air of virtuosity. Now she's the same as everyone other chicks who sing and busts out a little choreography.
