Switzerland isn't the EU, but they voted against having equivelent 25US recently.

Why does Europe always have to be at the forefront of social issues? What is wrong with America?

there's certainly things they're ahead on and there's other things they're not. like anyplace.

they're much more unionized over there then we are, so a lot of the onus falls on them to bring wages up.

Hardly made the news over here either, it's Germany so they know what they're doing. Plus it's been in discussion for many years now anyway, was just a matter of time.

8,50€ x 160 = 1360€ should have been like that years ago, like if you earn this kinda money you are a tad bit over slave status. my flat alone costs 500€ a month (used to be 340€, add 40€ for electricity, ~~30€ for internet/telephone, 20€ for cellphone, 200€ for food and stuff, 25€ for the gym, 50-70 for a metro/bus card, 20€ for bbc like state tv and all the other stuff its still too low imo. everyday prices are going higher and higher and you can be sure these fukks will make US pay for the higher wages.

there are also exceptions for people under the age of 18, longterm jobless (first 6 months, no minimum wage) and some other stuff.

edit: oh, and don't forget about the taxes :sadcam:
