I think it's what to do in his position. Like David Bowie did Ziggy Stardust.
I'm a big Bowie fan, and I don't think the comparison quite matches.
Bowie created personas like Ziggy Stardust because he was extremely shy and suffered from stage fright. He was resistant to show the audience the real David Bowie ("David Bowie" itself was an alias). Ziggy served to
shield Bowie from the audience.
Kanye OTOH has never been shy; he's never felt the need to shield himself or his thoughts from his audience. What you hear and what you see is what you get. That's part of his appeal. As such, he lacks Bowie's motivation.
I would say it was a poorly-executed way to eliminate the boundaries between performer and art. The problem is the moment has passed. He's too old for this shyt, and it wasn't in his wheelhouse anyway. That's why he looks like a bloated tin man than Ziggy Stardust.
