I will be in San Diego for the first time ever later this month. I don't "plan" on visiting any hoods, but curiousity may get me close to some of them.

I know that Cali is active (re: dumb), so what colors should I avoid wearing, and around what neighborhoods? I don't wear sports team caps. I'm not tatted up or part of any gang?

Please answer honestly for the sake of everyone. Thanks.

I just sound like an experienced traveler who always takes into account what "may" happen. It's not about being scared, it's about being prepared.
