The US is literally directly responsible for this caravan's existence. They stood by and supported a fraudulent and transparent power play by a corrupt leader in Honduras and have since provided him with monetary support and international legitimacy from the only power in the region that could have any impact on the decision to keep him in power.

Assuming every word of this post is true, so what? I still wouldn't say "let these people in!" I'd say we need to build a wall and review our foreign policy.

:mjlol: Build a wall for less than 10K people, 95% of which will just settle in Mexico for asylum just like every other time this has happened? The big scary caravan LAST YEAR settled entirely in Mexico.

This isn't a mob of zombies like that shytty Brad Pitt movie trying to blob their way over a wall. It's a group of poor, mostly educated people seeking Asylum in their neighboring countries because their homeland has been intensely destabilized by one of the nation's they're seeking Asylum in. You're being intellectually dishonest at best in assuming that every one of these people is just going to amass into the country illegally. The overwhelming majority of the "caravan" won't even reach the US border for 2 months if they even continue on to it. These are refugees seeking asylum in a statistically insignificant enough manner to be utterly negligible.

"Assuming it's true"

U.S. backs re-election of Honduran president despite vote controversy | Reuters

They backed a man who multiple independent organizations verified misled the voters and lied about the vote count because he is a US regional ally. Because they were afraid of Honduras going back to the left after they allowed a coup in 2009 against the left. :skip:

How in the world is the US not in any way responsible for this situation and other like it in Central America?

Have "they" made such a request? It seems to me, proponents of mass migration have offered the strongest legal argument on behalf of these migrants simply because they want more migrants.
The only group that has arrived at the US border, the majority of the "caravan" groups are still at Southern Mexican border cities, have applied for asylum.

If you're going to be against something, you probably should look into what it is you're against. 2,700 people out of the "caravan" which at this point is a very loose, mostly unconnected grouping of different peoples, have applied and been accepted for Mexican work visas and asylum claims. Only 6-7 thousand people in total are traveling northward, which means even now over half of them will settle in Mexico. And LGBT members fleeing discrimination in Honduras and Mexico have settled in Tijauna waiting for their asylum claims to be processed.

I can't read the WaPo article because I'm out of free viewings. How do you you know half of the 7,000 migrants traveling northward will settle in mexico? I'm also unmoved by the unfortunate homosexuals who experience discrimination. At least not moved enough to change my position on immigration.

Because I literally posted that 2,700 of the 7,000 have already applied and been accepted for Mexican visas. And more will do so as they travel to different cities just as happened in 2017. I know reading is hard and empathy is scary and all.
