same writer as the wick movies. as i said before wick the most influential action movie in decades.

it was alright. probably a 3 star. 3.5 if being generious. RZA had a dope ass kill shot. but i forgot it by the time i got to my car
The thing I'm talking predates the John Wick movies though. The three Taken moves, The Equalizer, Rage, Harry Browne, Blood Father, The Foreigner, Safe, Man on Fire, The Man from Nowhere, A History of Violence, on and on all the way back to Commando.

The whole, "Domestic man has his comfortable world shaken by an attack on his family and must reawaken his dormant violent past in order to defeat the bad guys" has been done over and over and over and over and over and over....

you're right. I was talking more stylistically though. There's been a crazy amount of ripoffs the past few years. even the writer is writing ripoffs of his own work now.

Movie was alright. Great action and some decent jokes. Got repetitive after awhile

Death Wish, 1976 was the original of these kind of urban menace thriller, endangered family plus/minus sexualized violence, leads to mostly racialized violence against black, Mexican, Latin, Russian, Albanian, whatever. They have a pervasive presence in American culture. I won't watch this, but I haven't watched a movie like this since Taken, and I did see Straw Dogs remake in 2011. Revenge fantasy. Also includes movies like The Patriot (2000) with Mel Gibson.

Straw Dogs was probably the best of these kinds of movies, displaying a class divide rather than a racial one, in rural Britain.
