Something happened to his flow and voice post 2000.. he used to have this chill laid-back effortless flow that balanced the aggressive lyrics, but then he got this abrasive agro flow that made him hard to listen to.

I thought he was gonna be the next ONE back in the run up to his album…i remember riding my bike up to blockbuster music after school and copping the 2nd Round Knockout single and thinking he was the next evolutionary step in rhyming…wild he kinda ended up being an afterthought

Nas didn’t want to be on desperados as was mentioned previously. Pun , redman(twice) and AZ got washed by Canibus on tracks. lol

now that's just not true
. His first album came out and he had songs with subject matters like:what's going on : about people wilding at the clubs
2nd round ko : obvious a diss to LL
nikkanometry : using a mathematical concept to explain things in the world
channel zero - a song based on illuminati theories decades before it became the focus of youtube videos
I honor u : relationship song that at one point he rhymed as a fetus
So when he tried to have subject matter, people said, "we want to hear the mixtape stuff". The 2nd album dropped and he' did that and has been doing that ever since.
Ras Kass - listen to the radio station shows they did together, and you'll hear the difference. Canibus just rapped a lot of bars, Ras said way more in less; more witty, more funny, and "deeper". Canibus excelled on songs where they were rapping about rapping, but any other content he still sounded like he was rapping about rap. On some rap shyt, he was tough.
