the less impressive what a lot of nikkas was doin' with g funk with samplin'/playin' back those funk tunes becomes :francis:

i'm listenin' to some parliament now (their funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome album) and it just really hit me just how really what nikkas like dre was doin' really won't all that

now, i am an r&b head before anythin' else (i know it's funk but you get my point) but it just really dawned on me how dre and them really ain't do much. nor did above the law

i know this thread might catch a lot of hate but fukk it, it is what it is :yeshrug:

Its easy to say something was easy after its been done..Its like when people were saying what Havoc did with the Shook Ones OG sample wasnt that impressive, but its the fact that he had the idea to do it first thats impressive

This. I'm not a producer by any means, so I don't really care if a sample is "hard to flip" or whatever. I care about the result being good, so for me the most important thing was always the fact that the producer actually found a good track to sample, and then knew how to take the right parts of a song and creating something new out of it.

Obviously there are creativity points too, which is one reason why Rza is my favorite producer. But Dre also did his thing post G-Funk

I was thinking the same thing recently.

A lot of that shyt Dre sampled made it damn near impossible to not make a hit record.
Yea...their talent came in not fuking it up the way Master P & No Limit made horrible sample records...but someone like George Clinton should be super rich because he did the hard part.

I was listening to Michael McDonald the other day, and I was like...damn, this song was already a killer before Warren G came along...there was no way for him to mess it up.

george should be super rich...but he got fukked by them white boys in the long run..

why the west coast made a killin off him..due to them not having to really pay ..they gave him the credit..but he aint see no money when he saw how much he was losing he decided to put 5 volumes of these

...nikkas like quik was bringin all of the pfunk players to play on his albums..gary shider...bernie worrell..are all over the safe n sound album..he knew they wasnt get paid for the samples...but he gave they ass a way to eat off the album..

quik n shock g the only ones i fukk with when it comes to samples..they take the most obscure part of the song..n make it their own..like dumb shyt..

Dre is a professionally trained musician? HOW SWAY?

i think with age, the further i get away from what was once so "cool" to me because with time i've gone back and listen to what came before and really realize just how powerful music like parliament funkadelic was and how creative they were for actually comin' up with notes, melodies, bridges, lyrics and licks for songs
