the less impressive what a lot of nikkas was doin' with g funk with samplin'/playin' back those funk tunes becomes :francis:

i'm listenin' to some parliament now (their funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome album) and it just really hit me just how really what nikkas like dre was doin' really won't all that

now, i am an r&b head before anythin' else (i know it's funk but you get my point) but it just really dawned on me how dre and them really ain't do much. nor did above the law

i know this thread might catch a lot of hate but fukk it, it is what it is :yeshrug:
Hip hop ain't supposed to be super complicated breh. The genesis of the whole shyt is two copies of the same record and running the break back over and over seamlessly.

hip hop was built off of bitin' from samples alone however it ain't so suppose to be simplistic either. nikkas back in the 90's like timbaland, quik, premier, rza, yo nikka havoc found ways of flippin' shyt and makin' some new shyt. it's suppose to be somethin' creative and "new". i ain't sayin' "super complicated" but "new", "fresh", and "creative".

Its easy to say something was easy after its been done..Its like when people were saying what Havoc did with the Shook Ones OG sample wasnt that impressive, but its the fact that he had the idea to do it first thats impressive

people where saying it was simple cause they thought it was a simple piano loop (that nobody could find the original) .. it didn't become impressive until the video dropped.

Breaks isn't biting...
I agree that you get extra points for flipping shyt...but digging in the crates and finding something nobody touched before is genius all in itself. Even if its a well known record.
It may seem obvious that somebody would have touched that Leon Haywood record if Dre hadn't...but we can't be sure about that :wow:

i didn't say breaks and yeah, there's a lot to be said for a nikka who finds like 4 to 5 seconds of a record whether it be a well known record or not, but who finds a few seconds of record nobody ever thought to use and flip it into somethin else

but i'm speakin' on the nikkas who straight up looped shyt and were lazy with it

Sometimes the genius is knowing when not to touch the sample :yeshrug:
I hear what you're saying though...nobody is going to hit the :ohhh:if they made a video recreating the Ain't Nothing But A G Thang beat :russ:
