:what: who said this?. Whoever did obviously dont know shyt about hip hop production. That flip was by no means "simple". One of the illest sample flips in hip hop history.

read it a few places online, producer forums etc..Hip hop fans sometimes man :snoop::camby:

and erick sermon was just jackin' old those zapp and parliament funkadelic records. zz top too

they thing that got me about Erick was if you read the credits he would sample Zapp "Dance Floor" on like 6 songs of the album and that always baffled me.. because I didn't hear the same sound on those 6 records... but it was like every one of their first 4 albums

I know a lot of Hip-hop heads and producers don't like to hear it but :

Creating music from scratch >> sampling.

I'm not saying sampling is simple or easy but as an art form, regarding the creative process, creating music from scratch is superior. Those musicians from the 70's and the 80's were amazing.
If you think about it...there's really no difference.
I'm not a trained musician, but I'm operating under the assumption that there isn't an infinite variety of sounds any one instrument can produce. If that's true, then ultimately it comes down to arrangement.

true... he pretty much raised and lowered levels... because whenever I play "one of those funky things" I don't hear how he hell he raise the bass/keys that damn loud.. and then swizz raised it louder . I guess by raising erick's
