@ this being boom bap, just because you use a break beat or Honey Drippers doesn't automatically make it Boom Bap. not to mention the 808s in there after every few bars to break it up.

it's boom bap influenced. classic drum break is the most prominent drums on the song. mixed with other poppy sounds and drums. it's actually pretty clever as far as manufacturing a hit because it kinda breaks from the other stuff playing on the radio but still sounds somewhat familiar. he went slightly center-left with it as far as the beat.

i'm actually not mad at the beat/song. will i give it play? probably not. but it's not annoying either.

The beat is quintessential hiphop. The melody samples/interpolates from "I forgot to be your lover" the same song Jaheim sampled on "put that woman first"

Then of course you got the impeach the president break beat. But I'd caution to call it "boom bap". It's still pop
