Nokia has always put great care into their products. They have literally spent millions on R&D in crafting their unique products. They will NOT go the way of some shytty Asian electronics manufacturer and simply churn out faceless products with random OS's on it. If they create a product, they are going to make it so that its unique in some way to the competition. Its hilarious that despite the "genius" analysts that criticized Nokia's partnership with Microsoft as "boneheaded" are silent when the current fate of Blackberry, HTC, Motorola, and even LG is brought up. Nokia is now the standard bearer for premium smartphone design and construction and people are starting to see this. Only the iPhone comes close in quality construction to Nokia products.

Seriously, I dare you Android stans to go to your local ATT store and just hold the Nokia 1020 or Nokia Lumia 1520 in your hands. The entire device just screams premium quality. From the screen, to the construction, to the OS, they're all solid. Its pathetic how Sammy has convinced you nikkas to accept shytty plastic phones with cheap disposable cameras.

But it honestly appears to me that disposable and Android go hand in hand so...

The issue here is the lack of Google services/apps that are standard in the biggest section of the Android platform. They are (in a way) releasing a random OS because it doesn't have the standard configuration available. They are releasing a true Android phone. I understand the motivation (getting a bigger M$ foothold in the mobile sector), but there are things standard (Google) Android manufacturers get for free for staying under the Google umbrella. If this report is correct and they're going the way of Amazon they will have to maintain their own app store which already puts them a step behind the standard Google platform. Good luck to them though. They're obviously targeting the low end of the spectrum and they could make some dough if they come in right.


Cosign your premium quality comment. There's no question that Nokia is in their own league as far as design/construction/etc. My 920 was probably my favorite phone hardware though I hated the OS.

What the hell are you talking about? I made absolutely NO comments about the app situation on Windows Phone. My comment was targeted to the ANDROID PHONE that this thread is about. My "understand the motivation" comment was targeted at Nokia including Microsoft services instead of Google services on the Normandy phone. This completely removes them from Google's umbrella and could hurt them in the end.

Googles punishing them for not following api rules. You could of had a good YouTube app, but instead of making it the right way they reverse engineer it so you don't have to watch ads and can download videos.
