Nollywood Heavyweights Inkblot Studios & Filmhouse Group To Launch Global Streaming Platform Kava Focused On Stories From Africa

EXCLUSIVE: In a landmark move, Nollywood heavyweights Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group have joined forces to create Kava, a new global streaming platform dedicated solely to Nollywood and African content.
The platform, which is set to launch in late August 2025, will kick off with more than 30 premium Nollywood titles from creators across Nigeria and the African diaspora, including exclusive post-theatrical releases and a selection of top Nigerian films and series in all genres. New content will be added weekly to the service.
Some of the first titles that will be on offer on Kava include: comedy-drama Alakada Bad and Boujee; Owambe Thieves starring Zubby Michael, Odunlade Adekola and Solo Sobowale; What About Us with Kuni Remie and Uzor Arukwe; and House Job starring Erica Nlewedim.
According to Kava founders, there are ambitions to create exclusive original content down the line for its subscribers. Nollywood is currently recognized as the second-largest film industry in the world in terms of volume, after Bollywood, but stories from the region have long been underrepresented on global platforms. With Netflix and Amazon Prime having pulled back on original commissions in recent years, the demand for African content continues to rise, particularly among diaspora audiences.
Kava is powered by two industry titans – Inkblot Studios, one of Nigeria’s leading studios and the first to secure landmark streaming deals with Amazon Prime and Netflix in Africa, and Filmhouse Group, which runs West Africa’s largest cinema chain Filmhouse Cinemas, distribution arm FilmOne Entertainment and production outfit FilmOne Studios.
