At this point whenever there is talk about racism, the moment I hear the word "love" I tune out. The reason this issue continues to persist is because people want to complicate what is very very very simple.
There are people who believe explicitly and implicitly that black people are beneath them. This belief can take forms from outright hatred, to belief in racial stereotypes, to supporting policies and practices that disadvantage black people.
People with these beliefs find their way into positions of power, and they exercise their power unjustly.
White people need to interrogate their own beliefs about black people, they need to talk to their children and tell them to check people who make racist comments and to be consciously aware of the fact that they live in a system of white supremacy. They have to take every opportunity they can to LISTEN and OFFER whatever RESOURCES they can to the movement to dismantle it. End of story.
I dont know this couple, but you have to be a genuine self centered piece of shyt to take a moment and a movement that is built on the deaths of countless black people and try to make that shyt about your relationship with a hawg. There is a time and place and this AINT IT.
