Yeah. Cole and Kenny be puttin words together like mad. While I find them interesting and skilled, I never wanna plunge in and listen to them again and again.

So there's some spittas.

Somehow I'll bars dont necessarily equate to dope (infectious.. bingeworthy) music these days.

It was always a struggle to make pop music that was also artistic but LL Face Cube Wu Nas JZ Big Pac and so forth and so forth managed to put their skill and craft inside of popular music.

Today there's not really any different styles. Everyone flips the same cadence, changes, tempo, studio tricks.. to where I don't know one from the other. Even the voice "quality" is all very similar. As in Lil Wayne clones. That tinny

Pretty scary how there’s no consensus on who’s the next generation of lyricists. Even with people saying JID, he’s 31, while still young, not exactly new or a gen Z representative. I don’t think there’s many representatives at all in the 20’s who resemble anything close to Kendrick, Cole or Drake on a major level.

I struggle to even think of who I like when it comes to the people my age (late 20s) or even younger, Lil Baby comes to mind but not as a lyricist. Cordae is the youngest I’m aware of.

He's 18 and produced the whole project. Should've made the XXL Freshman cover

Cause they’re ass. The people in their class that are supposedly “THE” guys (Lil’ Baby, NBA Youngboy, etc) just ain’t that special. They can flow for a long time and that’s it. And other guys I’ve seen them go up for (XXX, Juice Wrld, Polo G, Lil Skies, Roddy Ricch) are just a bunch of sing songy crying ass dudes.

A lot of dudes came and went, streams washed a lot of rappers out so someone with major outlet buzz ends up as a flash in the pan if they don't keep the momentum going and have a solid network. Consistency isn't there either between projects either. The internet decentralized things, typically radio would be the avenue to get somebody out there and the label would at least make an attempt to push an artist. Now, anybody can drop a song, get some buzz, and cultivate a little fanbase on socials while dropping a single or a project here and there. Internet changed how we interact with the culture; internet changed the culture.

Ehh I'm out of touch as far as new lyricists go. redveil, young breh from PG County, is similar to Joey but his wordplay isn't too crazy.

This super dope. Thank you for sharing. I want to make a thread for sharing unheard, unknown hiphop artists, singers etc that would fit for Sync but i just dont have the posts i guess.

It’s scary times for music overall honestly because hip hop is supposed to be the forefront of music at the moment, but the attention isn’t even on its most talented artists. It’s gonna be tik tok dictating out here. :snoop:

Makes me shutter to even think about the future of R&B let alone hip hop.

This thread getting :flabbynsick:

OP, go listen to some Lil Baby, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Key Glock, Kodak Black, and Migos
...as a member of Larry's garden :flabbynsick: as it pertains to today's rap music...I wanna know who is the top lyrical rapper of today's generation? Put me on...who is this generations Nas or Face?

I listen to some new rappers here and there: durk, lil baby, saba, westside boogie (if they're still considered new)but none are lyrical monsters. Am I missing somebody?

Old nikkas constantly make the mistake of trying to find the “next” in hip hop. Mainstream Hip hop is in a totally different era than in was 30 years ago. You want to listen to niche underground rappers that’s cool, but they need to stop comparing the old school and new school and looking for the next xyz. Go listen to the classic timeless records if the new generation’s music doesn’t suit your needs.
