Hmm, I don't know if I classify as a white person, but I do look the part somewhat and derive some privilege from it.

To answer your question, I feel terrible about all the slavery and racism in the history of Brazil, both against africans and natives. But I don't feel personally responsible for it in any way because, well, I wasn't even born. That'd be like me expecting the portuguese people of the XXI century to feel personally responsible for killing and enslaving the native brazilian people of the XVI century.

Below sums it up quite nicely. I really don't like to get into these racial discussions, because they ultimately go nowhere. There will be people that know I'm not racist, and people that will think I am no matter what I say or what my actions my whole life have proven.

No, I don't feel embarassed, I had nothing to do with it. But at the same time I also don't feel proud about the myriad of wonderful things white people have done for humanity. I had nothing to do with that either.

I see myself as an individual. My pride comes from my own acomplishments and my shame comes from my own shortcomings and failings. Hitler had nothing to do with me. King Leopold had nothing to do with me. But neither did Charles Darwin or Nikola Tesla.
