I had to grow up with family doing that stupid shyt. I did the same thing, just sit there with eyes open waiting for it to be done.

They used to think I just watch sports on Sunday that's why I didn't go to church. Which is true, I do watch alot of sports. They don't ask me anymore...I really don't give a damn what they think.

Along those same lines...I can't stand when folks say I'm "blessed" when something good happens to me. When I got promoted people left and right were saying that. My hard work and studying got me promoted, no one "blessed" me with anything.

you were actually blessed to wake up the morning you did to get your promotion.

you were actually blessed with a certain level of intellect to know when to strive for it, what to strive for, and how to strive for it.

you do realize there are people with mental illness that state, they cant retain a lot of info. which means they could study as hard as you and still not retain the same amt of info you retained. thats a gift you received from birth. you did nothing to deserve it. it was given to you.

you are blessed that some adult or someone TAUGHT you how to study and work hard. someone at some point in your life instilled that in you. You dont make that up yourself.

Religion is older than civilisation, were you really under the impression that they'd "get the message" within your lifetime?

As I have explained to you their beliefs won't change no matter what you do and if you were simply reacting to confrontation I'd have a measure of sympathy but you actively go looking for it.

Religion will continue to exist on its own terms. Scientific discovery will continue to encroach but what you do here does nothing for the religious or atheists.

You don't have to be religious to believe in God. I wish people could understand that shyt! Thanking whatever higher power there is for allowing you to be in a position in your life where you can eat is not something you need to follow a MAN MADE religion to do.

I personnaly see it is as good manners. If i go in someone's house, I accept whatever habits they have, or I get out. Matter of fact when my sister eats out, she just does a quick little prayer for herself (sometimes her kids join in if but most of the time they're already eating ). Kind of similar, I wouldn't bring a bottle of wine if muslim people invite me for dinner. Or I take my shoes in places where people take off their shoes. It really costs me nothing, it may have a meaning for them, but not for me.

BUT, if they start talking about religion and try to "convince" me, then the mood definitely changes
