THAT IS BECAUSE MAINO IS TRASH AND MAKES TRASH RECORDS

THE SOUTH IS WINNING BC THEY STAY INNOVATING AND BREAKING THAT TIRED ASS NEW YORK FORMULA

NORE GONNA START WARBLING IN AUTOTUNE AND RIDING YOUNG CHOP BEATS NEXT YEAR BUT BY THEN THAT shyt WILL BE PLAYED AND OLD RAPPERS WILL CONTINUE TO FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY ABOUT THEIR OWN RESTRICTED ARTISTRY

to be fair, the south releases so many trash records a year that get radio play...

Maino is trash no doubt, but there are NY artists with decent tracks who deserve some play in their city. That being said, rappers need to stop acting like Hot 97 is THE big NY station...

I think the only reason they're singling out Hot 97 so much is because their program director wants to be a star and be on the radio. Power 105's PD isn't like that, thus the station draws less attention for the negativity. When you got your PD out there on the regular talking about minor and major leagues, research numbers, gentrification, etc, then you're going to get called out more than the other station. And I believe Flex is still THE DJ in the city, so that's another reason

Ras Kass and Souls of Mischief would definitely not fit on Bad Boy

Ras Kass would've fit on Def Jam, and they tried to sign him in 1994, but he decided to sign with Priority. Dumb decision

I dunno.. I mean Def Jam was going through a crisis period at that time and Priority was hot off that West Coast wave thanks to Cube and them. Ras probably thought signing to a west coast based label would help him

Hilarious that all these folks go on 105 the Breakfast Club and kiss Angela Yee, C tha God and Envys ass and talk bout how they fam, yet the station never plays their music.

Well they know they have no say in the matter in what gets played. Can't get mad at them for doing what their bosses tell them

the thing is, they'll tell them they don't play their records. some care [Nikki Minaj and aired them out live on the show] others don't [Trinidad James]

I almost stopped watching the video when NORE said NY artists need to get our shyt back....now the fact that y'all been trying to bring back that "ny sound" to fail again and again and again...a smart person would think..."maybe I should take a different approach"

Honestly 105 is worse to me because they NEVER break any NY artists. Atleast Slay, Rosenberg and even Flex lately have played new NY rappers

@Piff Perkins To be fair, If you compare Hot 97 to Power 105, as far as who supports local artists, 97 shyts on 105 in a landslide. Flex been playing Mack Wilds, Chinx, Troy Ave, Action Bronson, Bodega Bamz (although I don't care for him), Joey Badass, Nathaniel (R&B dude) on his show a lot recently. Envy, Self, and even Clue don't play these artists. However, he (Flex) and the other DJ's should've been continuing to show support to NY artists (like they did in the 90's) for all these years. I understand not every inspiring NY rapper is going to get support on NY radio (it never was like that) But waiting after Trinidad James makes a comment to show support is pathetic imo

They are worse. I just think it's funnier though because the artists kiss their ass and flip out on Hot 97.

Nah. He ain't move to Cali until 17 though and he signed with Death Row when he was 20. So he only spent 3 years in Cali.

Only thing that makes people associate Kurupt heavy with cali is because he's a Crip. But his rhyme style and everything you can tell is very east coast/philly influenced. He sounds nothing like a typical WC rapper.

he has an east coast influenced style. thats about it.

theres really nothing philly about the bul.

and most people dont even know he from here.

nothin wrong with kissing angela yee's ass.

besides, they dont have any pull over there. theyre just workers.
