So Bad Boy was a gangsta rap label yet no west coast nikkas would've fit?
:what:

Bad Boy was a primarily R&B label... Biggie was the only "gangsta" headliner; Shyne n Black Rob were side shows

Total, 112, Faith Evans, Ma$e...

Blatant misrepresentations like this can't go unchecked

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
youre forgetting that bone thugs sought out eazy-e. they knew that ruthless was the place for them.

eazy wouldve been a fool not to sign bone. they were an obvious gold mine. theyre basically a pseudo-west coast group anyway.

youre missing the point.

the problem isnt getting hot on the streets. you can be hot on the streets all day but youre not gonna sell any records if the general public doesnt know that you exist.

i was getting max b cuts off the streets, even when i lived down south. but new york radio didnt even support dude.
Exactly..

think about it. there was always ignorant rap but there was options different sides in the spotlights.... even in atl you had the outkasts the luda's etc...now aint none of that... the labels would rather perpetuate the black ignorant jewelry/cars/twerking stereotype than anything else...keep artists as one/two hit wonders where they have no contractual power..instead of longterm the business model for labels is a quik lick(pause).......they eat well off nikka and send they ass back to the hood without them or the general pop being any the wiser and have set the game up now to repeat the same thing over and over.when the ignorance of southern music gets played out at some point they will find a new area to pop off...now hiphop is just a business cycle rape that almost looks unending going forward

Real shyt which is unfortunate.

Def Jam signed nikkas like Richie Rich, Warren G and WC along with Jayo Felony. I never considered them an east coast label. They're a major label like Interscope.
They're THE East Coast label. Get it right. Back in the day there was no real difference between Def Jam and those other labels. They were just a subsidiary at the time (Def Jam didn't become what they are now til the mid to late 90's. When they signed all those acts they were just trying to stay on)
