As far as I'm concerned Souls of Mischief would've fit on both labels so would Rass Kass.
backpack & rippity-rap niccas on rocafella & bad boy? theres tons of east coast rappers like them that werent signed to those labels and theres a reason why.

I'm talking about NY labels not signing west coast rappers not vice versa. 50 was sleeping in his Grandma's basement when Dre and Jimmy cut that million dollar check. Only a fool would've turned it down.
there was a bidding war for 50 actually.
he was a gold mine and a good fit.
Come on fam, what struggling nikka from NYC wouldn't sign to a hot record label from the West? I'm talking about nikkas in power in NYC like Jay and Puff never signing a west coast rapper and they've had labels for damn near 20 years now.
sure if youre struggling, youre gonna want to sign anywhere, but signing out of your region to crews that dont understand you is almost always a bad move, unless youre a perfect fit.
Nore decided he was a Reggaeton artist, even announced it, and started to only do Reggaeton tracks after it had already 'blown up' The fact that it faded fast like some Latin Hyphy doesn't change the fact that he did exactly what HOT97 is doing by catering to the masses who want dance/party music.
i busted out laughing at that "latin hyphy" comment.

thats pretty much what it was. they never really blew up. reggaeton blew up somewhat off of latino homers, thats about it.
nore always specialized in making hot party records tho.
Yep. That's exactly what they would have did.
Damn....I just seen the boy Young Hot at 0:20 seconds. What happened to that guy?
lol. young hot was prolly my favorite of that wave of philly rappers that came thru around then.
im not a meek fan, but i always wanted to run into him at an event or something. really at a random store or some chit so that i could get my point across and tell him to re-release those songs. i didnt even like most of those songs, but i just wanted to get that off my chest. same situation with alot of east coast dudes.
