youre not making any points here tho dog. i mean, what west coast rappers wouldve fit in with bad boy or rocafella? you never answered that.

and all that east/west stuff was dead by the time rocafella started poppin. i dont even know why you mentioned them. especially seeing that they revived the dogg pound for a few months with that "change the game remix". even had them on stage performing it at the soul train awards.

and didnt suge & them give sam sneed the beats because he had "too many east coast niccas in his videos"?

and pittsburgh isnt really seen as east coast like that. its more midwestern. but thats neither here nor there right now. besides they did sign BDK and others, in fairness.
My point is they could've found one. The same way they found Beans and them State Prop nikkas.

Son this makes zero sense..Beans n them State Prop nikkas was literally just a few hours from New York and it's all the Tri State area..the sound fit wit their movement more..Jay showed mad love to the West Coast anyway so mentioning The Roc is kinda moot..

Alright I'll admit that was a bad example. I'll make a better one, the same way Eazy-E signed B.O.N.E. Them nikkas didn't sound shyt like the typical Ruthless sound at the time did they? They was all the way from Ohio which is a Lake away from NYC yet he signed them and blew them up.

Why is it so hard for Ny nikkas to go get their shyt hot in the streets first instead of begging the radio to play subpar shyt? nikkas use strip clubs, skating rinks, whatever & wherever to get their shyt out down here. Why don't NY artist grind like that. Make the radio and the labels come to you. nikkas are complaining because it aint easy no more. They wanna leave the studio go strait to the radio and have someone else make their shyt a hit. Its crazy.

New York don't support. When I visited my peoples down in Atlanta years ago, radio was playing nikkas I never heard in my fukkin life :wtf: All local ATL stuff. I heard Shoulder Lean months before they played it back up north. And a bunch of other songs too. Hot97, Power105 and Power99 aren't playing local cats like that.

exactly. dudes already be stars down there. not just some local nicca thats hot and buzzin but cant get on the radio for chit. ayo, i listen to the come-up show every once in a while and they dont even support none of the local philly acts like that anymore. and some of the local chit they play be wack as f*ck now, like you know they only got on there because of connections or payola.

meanwhile, them buls down south already be stars, even if theyre wack. dudes be doing shows with females all up in the cut knowing the words like its powerhouse or some chit. then you come back home and you wont hear a peep out of them until months later. then they suddenly all over tv and our radio. chit is a trip.

Think about it like this..there was barely even any New York artists on The Roc until Dip Set came..and to answer ur question..Kanye West...Midwest artist that didn't sound New York..

:ehh:

Point still stands though, if the East hated the West that much 50 wouldn't have signed with Dre. And thats just 1 nikka, you were acting like the west was signing east coast nikkas left and right. And you are quiet as fukk about Death Row East all of a sudden.

youre forgetting that bone thugs sought out eazy-e. they knew that ruthless was the place for them.

eazy wouldve been a fool not to sign bone. they were an obvious gold mine. theyre basically a pseudo-west coast group anyway.

youre missing the point.

the problem isnt getting hot on the streets. you can be hot on the streets all day but youre not gonna sell any records if the general public doesnt know that you exist.

i was getting max b cuts off the streets, even when i lived down south. but new york radio didnt even support dude.

I could be wrong but, to me, it seemed like Power99 started playing Meek heavy when he put out In My Bag. If this was Atlanta instead of Philly, they'd been playing Meek plus all of those other underground cats like Kaboom, Quilly and NH. It was crazy to me...because up here we just play the same 40 hit songs over and over, when down there, they really be playing nobodies, giving them that spotlight. Then we want to get mad because they dominating the industry.

:what::dahell: I'm talking about NY labels not signing west coast rappers not vice versa. 50 was sleeping in his Grandma's basement when Dre and Jimmy cut that million dollar check. Only a fool would've turned it down.

Why not talk vice versa? Is it because you hold the East and West coasts to different standards?

nore was pushing for reggaeton, rather than just hoppin on the bandwagon.

its not like reggaeton ever really blew up.

granted, he may have thought that it was gonna be huge, but he took a risk with that at the end of the day, and that was really the end of him.

Nore decided he was a Reggaeton artist, even announced it, and started to only do Reggaeton tracks after it had already 'blown up' The fact that it faded fast like some Latin Hyphy doesn't change the fact that he did exactly what HOT97 is doing by catering to the masses who want dance/party music.
