I grew up with puerto ricans. I won't just throw out "they're racist!", but they're very shade conscious. Ive gotten some of weirdest 'compliments' from them, being ados and... well, me. Most stores I go to on the east side, they call me the 'pretty morena', even much younger white latinas, and assume I'm with a white man who's taking care of me so good. I know this bc my mother is super chatty, these be 'her' stores', and they ask questions. Our latinos come with regular latino ('me no black papi') issues.
