“I don’t know Pharrell he wears pastel colors”. Pastel colors are fruity and bright he’s calling him gay and weird.

In contrast to Nas he says about himself “I wear the pain of Soledad Brothers and chrome gat busters” which means Nas is street and conscious he’s calling himself a real nikka.

And he says I don’t know him? When you saying they had a working relationship. It’s a clear diss I don’t know where you from but where I’m from talking about what another man is wearing is dissing that man. What is the purpose of even bringing Pharrell up at all?

It doesn't sound like Nas was calling Pharrell fruity. Being gay isn't the opposite of being street conscious. Nas is talking about more than fashion when he talks about wearing the "pain of Soledad brothers and Chrome gat busters". He could simply be saying Pharrell is "soft" in comparison to himself.

I didn't take it as a diss because again, it sounded like Nas had an exchange with Pharrell and Pharrell did or said something that made him question him hence "I ain't fronting, I don't know Pharrell". "Frontin" is a play on Pharrell's song featuring Jay. Also Pharrell had his line of clothes and shoes BBC Ice Creams which were a lot of pastel colors. Nothing gay about it.

This was also at a time that Game later admitted he secretly was beefing in his own head with Pharrell...and he too had bars about how gay those fruity colors were.

It’s a diss bro. U don’t have another man’s name in ya mouth for no reason. U don’t compare another man to yourself. You don’t insinuate another man is soft compared to yourself. You don’t talk about what another man wears lol.

Nas has name dropped people in his rhymes before that weren't necessarily disses, but looked disrespectful i.e. "This ain't 50, this ain't Diddy". "I don't like the way P. Diddy did Shyne".

Those were both disses.

Nas basically saying Diddy was a snake and got Shyne locked up. Nas and 50 had tension already but it wasn't as publicly emphasized until that central park concert, burying bodies, piggybank etc

He didn't basically call Diddy a snake. He called out how he didn't like Diddy giving Shyne a different lawyer than he had.

Nas didn't really diss 50 on 'Disciple' either. He was just saying his music was different than what 50 and Diddy were putting out. This was before "Piggybank".

Some of these aren't disses. Rick Ross being chubby could be considered an understatement. Don't think Ross would take someone saying he was 'chubby' as a diss. Same as Pharrell really wearing pastel colors at that time and had a line called Ice Creams and from my understanding he premiered the line in the 'Frontin' video.

Nas vs 50 tension goes back way further...Nas even talks about it on "street Ryders" saying 50 was "snitching then". Also with the whole Nas replacing 50 on the J Lo it's gonna be alright. Also 50 was disrespectful in interviews at the time of everyone thinking Nas was going to join Murder Inc.

I'm sure Nas also had an issue over Diddy and Stoute situation over the hate me now video too.

He’s 100% expressing disappointment at Puff and insinuating he snaked Shyne.

But in 2009 Ross said 50 had been....saying things that were....could be construed as a diss.

It's the context. Same way 50 being named Curtis is not necessarily a diss but THE WAY Cam was saying it was.

Specifically pointing out a contrast shines a negative light on the person the comparison is being made with. Like Jay dissing Frank Lucas talking about "I ain't tryna snitch"

I know 50 had tension with 50 going all the way back to the Trackmasters.

Nas and Diddy didn't have issues. They performed together at The Source Awards AFTER Diddy attacked Steve Stoute. It was Steve Stoute who Nas fell out with.

Immediately after, Jay says the line, he says he wasn't dissing him.

That isn't the same as dissing him though. Expressing disappointment isn't the same as dissing someone. We're talking about the guy who made "Ether", "Destroy & Rebuild", and "Stillmatic Freestyle". He pulled no punches on those songs .

Its funny how NORE acts like his LifeSucksDie interview doesnt exist :mjlol:

LSD- Not to change the subject entirely, but can you explain “Light a candle, run laps around the English Channel, Neptunes’ got a cocker spaniel”?

N- Well, when you light a candle, that’s saluting your dead peoples. Light a Candle. And then, what’s the English Channel? It’s a big pool of water and it’s overseas. So I’m trying to say that when I light a candle I’m that strong that I can run laps around the English Channel. And Neptunes [producers featured prominently on Noreaga’s two solo albums] have a cocker spaniel. ‘Cause they homo. [Pause]

LSD- Oh. All right.

N- Neptunes is homo. You won’t hear another Neptunes track again on Noreaga again in your life. I didn’t know that they hand was broken. [makes limp-wristed gesture]

LSD- Is this a recent discovery?

N- It’s a recent discovery after the “Oh No” video. After money had the tight choker on in that video. And we started asking questions, and people from Virginia started telling us that he’s a straight Flagrino. And he takes it up the ass. I cut him off.

LSD- Even though the beats--

N- fukk the beats! [laughter]

LSD- I can’t fukk with nobody that Mohammed used to throw off the hill. You know, Mohammed used to take all the homo nikkas in the village, and he’d take ‘em to the top of the hill and he tricked them. He’d tell ‘em ‘Yo, jump down there’, and when they’d jump down there, they killed they self. We don’t fukk with homo. I like lesbians, though. I’ma stand up--I like lesbians and dykes. If you’re lesbian and dyke you’re okay to me, but if you’re a homo, I don’t even like you. LSD- So you’re pretty clear about that. N- I’m clear about that. Y’all ain’t homo are you? [laughter]

LSD- No, no. We’re familiar with your music. I don’t think we’d be here.

N- That’s good. I don’t want to offend anybody. [laughs]
LMAOOOOO
