I am curious why artists like her, Sevyn, Chloe, Her ect. Don't really connect as much as you think they would. Hot 97 and 105 are plugged in to the mainstream here and I rarely hear their songs

She's a talented dancer, is pretty and can sing, but she needs a gimmick besides overly-sexualized black girl. Lets look at some recent successes:

- H.E.R. came out playing guitar like a rock star. Other girls weren't really doing it like her
- Doja Cat came out singing and rapping and talking about internet culture, video games and anime
- Cardi B has a really funny/quirky personality

Without a hook, with the style of performance she keeps doing, her only chance is to luck out on big crossover hits (like "Dancing w/ a Stranger" ft. Sam Smith), but even that will peter out cause people aren't continuously talking about her on Twitter or watching her on Youtube and late night shows. They just like that old song. Nobody's gonna like this new song like that. If she had a gimmick she wouldn't have to chase a hit, the hit makers would come to her with prewritten, ready-to-go, Billboard 100 tracks.

Why Normani hasn't made it big as a solo artist yet is a wonder to me. that flop ass single they gave her last time and the rise of HER probably screwed her whole marketing up.

Her first chance to break out was that 2019/2020 period right after "Motivation" (a song written by the biggest pop star in the world) came out. But RCA kept playing games because they didn’t know how to market her as a pop artist.

She recorded this track with Dua Lipa for Future Nostalgia. It could have been a big hit, but the label took her off and the song was released as a deluxe track without her.
