So he is a pastor of a religion that considers homosexuality an abomination, yet he has committed that abomination probably many times and remains a pastor in good standing? Just another small reason added to the monument of reasons why I do not take any of these religions seriously outside of what influence they may have on my life politically.
It's not really about the dogma or principles of any of these religions. It's moreso about the community. It's a social club at worst or it's an investment club at best, irrespective of religion.
Also notice that the more extreme , nonsensical , or contrived those religious policies are, the more committed to the social group it's congregates are. Irrespective of the type of religion.
These two concepts kinda explain why that pastor is still in good standing. Rather than dissolve the community and admit what
@Uachet says, it's easier to keep him in the fold to keep the social networks active .
