Well technically you can buy 4K Digital movies in 2015. Off the Top of my head, If you have a 4K Samsung Smart TV, you can buy movies in 4K from the M-GO app. Sony sells expensive-ass 4K streaming media players that you can buy movies in 4K from PlayStation Video and/or Sony Pictures store
send me a link so I can download some films now then,

1080i I mean but U-Verse does 1080i no problem and 1080i has same pixels as 1080p just at 30 fps instead of 60 fps

edit: and companies are more than capable of streaming 1080p. You can stream 1080p, 60 frames per second on 3 mb/s upload speed for the most part. These companies are offering 50 mbs speeds as the norm now and up to 300 mbs up and down in places like Dallas and some even faster in other places.

Them not doing it cause it saves them money is another thing.
1080i is not 1080p at 30fps..1080i is 540p bandwidth wise. 720p is a higher bitrste than 1080i..
Also, a 3mbps 1080p stream is garbage. Might as well be 480p at that bitrate

twitch caps upload at 3.5 mbs for non partners and 1080p looks great still.

1080i is 2 layers of 540 (540x2 = 1080) ran at 30 fps. which is why it takes less bandwidth. Same amount of pixels, just not as smooth or clear.

Actually, it's ran at 60hz..each hz alternates the pixel shown.
All in all its garbage

I guess that depends on the codec being used. iTunes video uses H264 codec. iTunes 480p video is 1.5 MBps second, while iTunes 1080p video is 4-5MBps

breh stop lying to the citizens of the coli,

1, i did not need to defend my 3dtv purchase i made over 4 years ago, as the tv still has 1080p which is why i purchased it, the 3d was just a bonus

2, i didn't once shyt on 4k, what i said is there is no real content for it.

3, you was wrong you tried to act like tv channels broadcast at 1080p then everyone hit you in the neck with fax

I can see it being in the future, but right now//it's just a gimmick like the 3D tv. We need to get 1080p 60fps before we get 4K

before I begin, just want to say I'm not one of these bitter posters that complain about new technology, as I purchase everything new tech wise, consoles get em all on release dates, mac's, had HDTV in 2005 when a 32inch cost 1,000. and purchased a 3DTV straight away.

BUT... 4k is just impractical. even from a pirate point of view, at least you can download a 3D movie in no time, to download a 4K movie would take crazy long, equally as long for the person to upload it.

to download legally would take ages also

to stream you'd need an amazing internet connection

this gen of consoles, yeah the gen that just came out.. cant play any games in 4k

tv broadcasters don't even have enough bandwith to transmit 4k TV , they're having a hard enough time with 1080p

a lot of bluray players don't support 4K

most youtube videos are not 4K

breh's the list is endless. how is this supposed to take off
The tech is always ahead of its actual practical use. Look @ 3D TV shelf life was quick as hell.

calling 4K a gimmick is like calling USB 3.1 a gimmick. It's simply a new standard early in it's life. I will say this all the people who bought a 4K before this year got fukked if their TV is missing stuff like HDR and HDCP 2.2. That's the problem with this crap is the standards were still being nailed down and manufactures were making TVs anyway.

I'll tell you what's a gimmick though. Curved TVs and this is coming from a person that has one. I didn't want the curve but I wanted the best TV in my price range and it was curved.

Blu-ray players didn't even come out until the PS3 hit. The first Hdtvs came out in 1998. Cable and Satellite adopted it in 2002-2003 in 2005 when the Xbox 360 came out people barely had HDTVs and we're just getting them. I remember how people used to bytch about the text size on the games.
