What exactly is she taking credit for?

Everybody thinks they’re this great innovator. Meanwhile the label, stylist, publicist, A&R, mua, and the mofos who write your songs and make the beats are the innovators.

That’s why they can copy and paste your shyt onto a better bytch.
Ehhhh, ur an idiot if you think Kelis’ look/image, when she first came into the game wasn’t her idea, and fully authentic. Sonically, she always blurred the lines between hard R&B, with a pop/rock edge. Not that she was this first to do this, but as a full package... yeah

Rih may have copied some of her styles from Kelis. Kelis may want to be careful tho. First she insults Beyoncé then Pharrell now Rihanna.... She begging to get fully blackballed.
she has nothing to lose. she hasn't put out an album in almost 10 years and she seems to be tired of the music industry in general.

seems like she's getting gassed up by her fanbase to sound more and more reckless tho and it's gonna end up killing her credibility. I thought she had a decent point about having her name on a sample list without even having any input and the hypocrisy of how everyone involved in it keeps spouting off about artists rights

OP must be a young nkka. Rihanna definitely jacked Kelis' wave. Stylistically and aesthetically, Kelis was ahead of all those broads. She was a baddie...:takedat:

This was Rihanna wave...

Kelis was already on this type time...

She had a sauce about her, whenever you seen her. Fast forward (around the time Jay take over Def Jam, Rihanna comes back out w/ a different sound, and repackaged...

I’m not a young nikka at all, I’m old enough to remember Rihanna had one foot out the door until The Dream and Neyo put in that work, they all kind of rose to the top together.

Two different lanes.

Kelis always had a more Alternative Urban/Black Hippie type of style.
Rihanna is just whatever is trendy R&B/hip Hop style.

I mean, I can see that lol. Rihanna did kinda shark Kelis's "Bossy" look during her Rated R" era.

Ugghhhhh that’s not how art works bruh. Not saying the Rihanna/ Kelis steez is true or not, but many artist in all realm steal influences/ideas from the lesser successful acts. It’s a thing where you take something niche and make it mainstream. That’s the reason why more underground acts/niche artists get sharked, as opposed to stealing/being influenced from successful acts. Most people won’t believe the lesser known.
Good point.

Bossy era Kelis was the most popular though. Rhianna definitely took her style

But Rhinna is more talented than Kelis with a much better voice. I dont mind taking trivial things from the less talented to make something better.

what talent?
