I think my sister is getting into it through my mom too. Can you believe my moms got banned from Youtube? And she don't even post videos breh. Banned for comments. It's sad and I know first hand how it looks and how it happens.

I blame the algorithms. It starts with someone going on YouTube for innocent, even positive content. Political chats, news, health and wellness, science, African history. Then the autoplay and suggestions leads them to more niche content until eventually, boom, they hit one of those Qanon conspiracy theorist videos, or Young Pharoah, or whatever. that leads them to more of those videos and more suggestions surrounding it. Unable to practice proper news judgement they get "hooked" and come to believe the content they are enjoying. They identify with their favorite YouTube content. It becomes their knowledge and their intellectual identity. And a lot of this shyt is being bankrolled or created by foreign agencies and corrupt political organizations to divide people, engineer homegrown terrorism, and create chaos.

I don't think people truly understand the scope and the impact misinformation on the internet really has had on society.
